March, 9th, 2025 - Gakuya Power Fest 209
We are addicted to NakaZ san's festivals, and as long as he lets us take part in them we'll always try to be there. Live House Kiruna, next to Kintetsu Fuse Station.

Third time at Foot, Rock & Beers in Shinsaibashi! Great sound, great bands, and great atmosphere, as always.
2024/7/14(日) 場所 中津 Step Hall
It looks like we always play on Sundays because we are not good enough to be invited to play on Saturdays, but still, Monday was a bank holiday, so it feels sort of right, doesn't it?

My guitar was a bit too loud and this time, just this time, you couldn't hear the bass very well (I suspect it's been the only time that this has ever happened at this venue). You can see Jorge hitting the amp at about the one minute mark because he couldn't hear his bass.
After Movies we played Play the Field, and then Kitchen Shampoo after that.
This is a very special song for me, and that's what I had wanted to say before we started playing it, but somehow I forgot. I just talked vaguely about doing the dishes with shampoo. I tried to keep the overdrive as low as possible, but now when I hear it I feel my guitar sounds a bit too dirty. Jorge's bass lines in this song are barely audible here and that's a pity because they really deserve to be listened to.
Míchel sang "Desgraciados" after Kitchen Shampoo, and he did a terrific job at it. I screwed up a little in the interlude with the guitar, but what can you do about it!
Then we played "The Yellows Black". Again, you can't hear the bass very well, but I did feel it and together with the drums and Míchel's rhythmic guitar that base felt so solid upstage! My ears hurt when I listen to my solo on this song, so I won't put the video here (you can still find it on YouTube if you want to, but don't say that I didn't warn you!).
Our sixth song was a Stooges cover, "Search and Destroy", no less, because there's no rule that says that you can't give a try to your favorite songs, right? I hope they find a way to forgive us for what they did to their song some time. If you watch the first few seconds of the video you'll easily understand why my wife says that I move like the massai on the stage.
We closed with "Gardens", which we haven't recorded properly yet but I believe rocks. Save for the singing towards the end, I'm very happy with how we played it here. I was sweating so much with the lightning up there that I took off my glasses during the solo (3:11).
I was very careful not to step on them during the rest of the song. While we were packing up after our 30 minutes, the sound guy almost did, though. I would have forgiven him anyway after what he had just done for our sound!
After us came 爺'z (pronounced Jeez), who played songs by a Japanese band called B's, and who will be sharing stage with us on July, 14th, 2024 (I'm hoping you'll like them, decide to go check them out live, and then maybe see us as well). I hope their vocalist has less trouble with his wig on that day.
The following band was a Motley Crue tribute band called "モッコリー・クルー" (which I guess can be transliterated as "Moccorie Crew"). They opened the show with their lead guitarist lying on the floor, moving only to show a tag inviting the audience to sing "Dr. Feelgood" in the chorus (0:21), and then to do a brief solo that was in fact much better than anything I can do on my feet (0:33). By the way, what came first, the shirt or the guitar?
The following band was "西天満Z変", or Nishi Tenma Ji hen", which is a tribute band of Sheena Ringo's band Tokyo Jihen (東京事変). Nishi Tenma is where the studio we and they rehearse at is, and then the Z (pronounced "Jee") is their drummer's trademark (his nickname is NakaZ, and he happens to also be our drummer, the guy who runs the studio and the guy who organized this event).
The event closed with a Bon Jovi tribute band, whose lead vocalist was, of course, our drummer, NakaZ, although for the voice you would have thought it was the very Jon Bon Jovi himself, for the moves Axl Rose, and for the wig he was wearing an "Osaka no obachan". Jokes aside, they were amazing, they sounded really compact, and the three-voice harmonies blew our minds. Never in my life I thought I would have enjoyed Bon Jovi so much!
In the next months we'll be participating in two more events organized by NakaZ, first at Nakatsu Step Hall on July 14th, and then again at Foot, Rock & Beers on December 22nd. If they're half as good as this last one they will be absolutely great.
